ARA DAMANSARA, 5 DECEMBER 2023 – Sime Darby Property Berhad (“Sime Darby Property” or “Company”) marked a momentous milestone for the year with three exceptional recognitions  from the Malaysia Book of Records for the Largest Recreational Park with Renewable Energy,  the Largest Crown Structure and the Biggest Solar-Powered Signage in the Bandar Bukit  Raja Townpark.

The achievement which focuses on sustainable energy is testament to Sime Darby Property’s  pledge to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050, referencing the science-based target of  limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C.

Sime Darby Property’s Group Managing Director, Dato’ Azmir Merican said that the Company is dedicated to reducing its carbon footprint and mitigating the effects of climate change by  embracing innovative and sustainable practices within its townships and developments.

“In line with our purpose to be a Value Multiplier for People, Businesses, Economies and the  Planet, we will continue to reimagine public spaces through innovative placemaking initiatives  while actively taking proactive measures in reducing our carbon emissions at our townships and  developments over the long term,” he added.

The achievements were celebrated alongside the opening of the second phase of the townpark,  which at 50 acres is the largest townpark in the royal city of Klang. The Bandar Bukit Raja  Townpark is part of a growing list of placemaking initiatives which build strong, resilient, and  thriving communities.

The townpark is also home to a gorgeous wetland and provides opportunities for the communities  to engage with nature. Parkgoers can appreciate the serene surroundings and indulge in various  family friendly recreational activities such as cycling, jogging, and urban farming among others.

Dato’ Azmir believes that placemaking goes beyond physical design and involves creating spaces  that reflect the values, aspirations, and needs of the community. “The Bandar Bukit Raja  Townpark adds vibrancy through nature, iconic structures, state-of-the-art amenities and public  spaces that enhance urban vitality and foster community health, happiness, and well-being.

Thank you to Malaysia Book of Records for the recognitions,” he said.

The second phase of the townpark was inaugurated with a thrilling event that brought communities together, raising a sense of togetherness. The friendly weekend affair also promoted  local economic growth by giving individuals and small businesses an opportunity to earn income.

Sime Darby Property is committed to transitioning from a pure-play property developer into a real  estate company by 2025, with an emphasis on being a master developer, community builder, as  well as an investment and asset manager. The Company’s commitment extends beyond property  development, as it works to establish dynamic and long-lasting communities that enhance the  lives of generations to come.
