Merdeka 118, second tallest no more… when?

People always say Malaysia has too many tall office buildings. Some suggested that we should disallow any more future tall office buildings. I will agree once these tall office buildings have no tenants and all the tenants rush to leave these tall office towers to rent elsewhere. There are reasons why we buy things and it is because of the brand affiliation.

There are reasons why employees join companies and that’s also because of the brand it represents, not just the salary alone yeah. This is why all office buildings must continue to rejuvenate themselves and aim at a niche versus everyone trying to attract the same companies.

Anyway, here’s that one latest tallest tower (not just a tall building) which is said to be the second highest in the world; when it completes in 2028.

Article in nst.com.my Merdeka 118, currently the world’s second tallest tower at 678.9-metres, could lose that title soon.

That spot could be taken over by the Burj Azizi, set to be the latest addition to Dubai’s skyline once it is completed in 2028.

The National, in its report, said the developer had declined to say how tall the Burj Azizi will be as the structure’s proposed height is awaiting final approval from authorities.

The US$1.5 billion tower, which will be on the Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, will reportedly feature luxury apartments and penthouses, a mall spread over several floors, a seven-star hotel, high-end F&B outlets and an observation deck.

Dubai already houses the world’s tallest structure, the Burj Khalifa, standing at a height of 829.8-metres. Do read the article in full here: Article in nst.com.my

I have to keep reminding everyone about that tallest Twin Towers in the world

Yes, our Petronas Twin Towers even though at just 451.9-metres tall (Yes, it’s super tall still) remains the tallest twin towers in the world. I looked through some of the news of the upcoming tall towers and I am quite happy to note that there are no twin towers which will surpass our Petronas Twin Towers. Yes, this twin tower idea is definitely a great idea yeah. (Despite many people saying it’s NOT needed then…) It was a catalyst to the whole KLCC area and beyond. How to measure this via profit-loss yeah.

Many things are economy catalysts. Exactly like the High Speed Rail (HSR) or the KLIA (many said just expand the Subang airport…). If we just use the revenue from ticket sales, then NO NEED to proceed lah. Go and check the Singapore’s MRT system and see if they suffered more losses every year or more profits yeah. Yet, they kept building MORE lines. Anyway, enough of blabbering from me. Happy visiting these tall buildings!
