Going Langkawi? Where to Stay and What to Play? Plus Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner places.

The below is from my latest visit as a quick reference

Accommodation in Langkawi is this: hangouts Urban+Eco Langkawi. I booked via Agoda. I am a Platinum member. I have no idea if I get better prices or not. Seems like almost the same.

I did a latest search and the below is around the price I booked too per night. RM592 per night. No breakfast. Just drive out nearby and many places. I will share below too. In total, I stayed 5 nights. There were 8 of us, 4 adults and 4 kids. Yes, we love the place. More photos to follow.

Queen Bed and another Double Bed (pull-out). All furnitures are by KIEA (down to the towels and carpets)
Spacious shower area. Strong shower water pressure. Anti-slip floor.
Dining area and they give a big fridge too. All utensils are provided too. Microwave oven as well.
Front porch area. Spacious and easy to park two cars front and back.
The pools look luxurious and there are a few to choose from, just outside the Family Suite from the back door.
This is the back door to the facilities, pool etc. All units have plants and all the plants seem to be well taken care of.
One word; SPACE. Staying here means you will feel at ease too.

Car Rental?

I used Kasina. Considered an established name here in the northern region. Picking up car was a breeze. Sending back the car was a breeze too. Price wise, I guess it’s no big difference between them and all the other brands. The good thing is that I have already booked the van way in advance to ensure I definitely have the car waiting for me when I arrive in Langkawi. If you like to whatsapp their PIC, you may contact Ms. Tan at 017 369 9865. Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable too. She’s a local.

Price was RM305 per day. We did not rent two sedans even though that would be slightly cheaper because we did not want to drive two cars and the kids prefer to have one another in the same vehicle too. The van petrol consumption is around 30 sen per km. I think this is a good number versus because driving 2 sedans may be around the same too. I also did not choose automatic because I am a REAL driver. Haha.

Places to Play?

#1 – Go for Sunset Cruise. If you are a family, your children would enjoy it tremendously. Unless of course they are too young (below 5) or they are scared of water.

Last trip, I was part of a big group of strangers. This time, I took a private boat to myself. It’s a smaller boat yeah. However, look at the photo and the video and you would understand why my daughter said this. “This time it’s more fun. Coz we could slide down from the upper deck of the boat into the water directly!”

yea, seats are leather and quite luxuruious. maybe this boat still new.
there’s lower and upper deck. Besides the 8 of us, there’s the captain and also another assistant.

#2 – Langkawi Wildlife Park

Kids will find this a nice place to be. They get to feed and feed and feed animals. Touch the snake… Have birds flying around them… Play with rabbits… Touch the old turtle… Hold the hamster… Feel scared with the huge crocodile… compete with the peacock on who’s more elegant… watch feeding sessions and more. We watched the feeding session for otters who had to perform some easy tricks too.

The environment is also not very hot because most parts are covered. The place is clean and the keepers are friendly too. Basically, it’s very easy and quickly that 2 hours would have passed.

#3 Island Hopping Tour – Pulau Dayang Bunting, Pulau Beras Basah, Pulau Singa

You can see from the photo below why it’s called Pulau Dayang Bunting (Isle of the Pregnant Maiden). Read the story here. It’s a nice place to cool down, the lake is nice to swim but I think we need more time. Walking from the jetty to the lake took us easily 15 minutes and we only get to enjoy for 30 minutes and we have to walk back to the jetty to wait for our boat. Perhaps next time will get a boat which will just let us be there for a couple of hours. Maybe we could do some hiking too.

This is RM40 per adult and RM35 per child. This fare is ONLYT for the boat transfer. Any other fees such as entrance fees to Pulau Dayang Bunting’s lake is extra. Fortunately it’s just RM5 per pax I think. Acceptable as long as they continue to maintain and place and ensure the jetty does not look dilapidated, the walkways are proper etc. I am one of those who believe good maintenance needs investment and well the money has to come from somewhere…

huge lake to swim but note that there are no lifeguards yeah.

Okay, to be continued in the next article where we will look at more places to visit and also where to eat and where to buy things too. Including google maps for you to easily find those places too.

Please do share if you believe others could benefit too. Thank you.
