Team India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, went unbeaten in 10 World Cup matches before falling at the final hurdle

Rohit Sharma did fail to win the World Cup trophy on home soil but the Indian skipper’s brand of captaincy has certainly impressed many. Former New Zealand captain and current England Test team’s head coach Brendon McCullum is one of those who has been moved by Rohit’s leadership prowess. McCullum recently confessed that he admires Rohit’s bold and risk-taking captaincy.

“Yeah. I like his (Rohit Sharma’s) captaincy. I think his captaincy is bold. He takes risks and he takes the game on. And when you add the talent base of India to these kinds of tactics, then he can achieve very good things. He has been a great leader for not just India but for Mumbai Indians over the years as well,” said McCullum to news agency ANI.

While talking about Team India’s captaincy, it is difficult to refrain from mentioning Virat Kohli’s name. McCullum also covered the topic of Kohli. The ex-New Zealand skipper lavished huge praise on Kohli for showcasing sensational performances on the big occasions.

So look, he was always touted as a future superstar and he has lived up to, he has dealt with the hopes and the dreams of over a billion people and he has been able to perform on the big stage. He deserves every accolade that he gets,” McCullum added.

Team India, under the leadership of Rohit, produced a scintillating series of performances at the World Cup. The hosts reached the final having remained unbeaten in 10 matches. Though, India’s juggernaut came to an end in the final as they were defeated by Australia.

Following a heartbreaking World Cup campaign, India featured in a T20I series against Australia. A second-fiddle Indian team, under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy, got the better of Australia in the five-match T20I series. India will next be up against South Africa. India’s tour of South Africa will start with a T20I series from Sunday, December 10.
